In accordance with Florida law, funding in the amount of $3,500 is being requested from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) designated fun balance for fiscal year 2019/2020.

The LETF funding of 5,000 that was approved in November for forfeiture legal costs for this fiscal year is almost at a zero balance. To date the expenditures are at $4,853.77 leaving the account a balance of $146.23. Therefore, additional funding will be necessary for future expenditures to cover the costs for court fees, summon fees, legal advertisements and postage. These costs are unknown at this time, however, another $1,500.00 is being requested to cover any future expenditures.

The Police Department has supported the Powell Subdivision with monies over the past several years to help with their ongoing youth programs. The “Community Read and Feed Program” has a huge impact on the youth of the Powell Subdivision community during the summer months by providing home cooked hot meals, meal packages, books and reading assistance to the underprivileged youth; some of which may be serious hunger problems. This year’s program will include free hot lunches, free books and hygiene packets for children ages 3 to 19 from July 6th through August 8th. The Police Department requests to contribute $2,000 to this program to help with purchases needed for this program to be successful. This donation will be used as part of the required 25% towards crime prevention.
